Fel del av gården

I miss you all. I hope the picnic went well. I also hope we can do something Saturday, go see a movie or whatever the plan becomes.
I am still listening to the character mix I made for Richard in the car, and in the morning, and running, and I am really happy with it. It's actually rather perfect, and I am desperate to share and show it if anyone wants a copy or a list of songs. I'm also listening to this Swedish group Movits! that was apparently on Colbert and they are fascinating. I think someone mentioned French rap during the conservatory and all I've found so far is La Brigade, but I need to look harder unless you guys want to give me some names.
Please please please stay in touch however you can. I can't text during work but text me anyways, or iChat or show up at my house or whatever. If you don't, I'll eventually quit clinging hopelessly to our wonderful three weeks but I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. I keep finding myself wishing I was at Burning Coal with you all and the memories are beautiful and cheesy. No pun intended, actually, Ian.

  1. Hey, Hillary! I don't know about french rap, but there is some great french pop! Check out the artist Yelle and browse some of her stuff. Je Veux te voir is her big hit. Also look for a french song called "au port."- i think it is kind of cool. I was just curious as to the playlist? is it alternative stuff? because I discovered a great alternative artist called Florence + The Machine. I loved her album called Lungs if you're interested. Anyways, I'm rambling- sorry about that-, but I hope to see ya this weekend at North Hills! :)

  3. Yelle is pretty neat. I might also recommend the German metal band Ramstein for a kick. On the subject of European music and all. Oh- or Die Fantastischen Vier (aka the fantastic four). You just can't beat cheesy German rap.

  4. Oh! If you want to browse some real authentic stuff, try switching the nationality of the "my store" button at the bottom of the iTunes home page. I don't think you can buy anything with it because of currency, but you can see what other countries are listening to!

  5. What a great idea Dylan!
There's one french singer I know and that's Vanessa Paradis. I don't know if she's any good but she's Johnny Depp's girlfriend/wife-thing and I've got her Cd. Her songs are catchy, but I don't think french people actually like her...
and a really good german song is 99 luft balloons by Nena. (: random.
