It's very interesting to me how an exercise like the one we did today with the blindfolds can be so funny. That is not a game that intends to be funny, but it was always hilarious. None of the people went out of their way to try to be funny, but they didn't have to: the activity made them do things very seriously that were inherently funny. I think that this is a valuable lesson for me to learn in terms of comedy--there is humor in vulnerability.
Also, I was blown away at the effect that the deformity had on my physicality. I had such a specific physicality of my character that when it came time to pick a deformity I went out of my way to pick one that I thought would have the smallest effect on my physicality. But something about just clsoing one eye changed everything about the way my character moved and spoke. This worried me for a while, but I have decided to embrace it. Clearly the deformity has had a huge effect on Richard's life, and so logically it should effect the way he moves.
I'm going to miss you guys so much. I am really glad I am getting to meet all of you.
Ian, how possible is it to just keep the Conservatory going for a bit longer than planned?
