Procrastination time is over!

Greetings my fine lords and ladies,

Improv was fun today. I was a little skeptical, because I'm not very good at imrov, I'm more of a thinking things out person, so doing things on the spur of the moment is tough. But I really enjoyed watching, and I'm proud that I participated at least in the subway one, which was super fun, not only to watch, but to be in. And now....

9 Uta Hagen Questions

1. Who am I?: I am Richard, Duke of Gloucester. I am the reigning King's brother. I am the youngest of three siblings. I was, and am still, a great warrior. I am someone who has been displaced by peace, uprooted by the a somewhat temporary ceasefire. I am "deformed" and "unfinished" and I am someone who resents the status of "deformed" in any and every way. I am an introvert whereing the mask of power. I am a thinker. I am a schemer. I want to prove myself. I am begging for attention. I have a morbid sense of humor.

2. Where am I?: England. An ancient and huge castle. A pile of stones that signifies power and ownership of the country. I am high in the social hierarchy; but not high enough.

3. What time is it?: It is 2009. It is summertime. It is a time of tentative peace after much war, now that King Edward has taken the throne.

4. What are my surroundings: (For the first scene) The cold stone castle walls. The throne, which is the object of my ambition. The towre looms in the background, always a constant reminder of death. The King adn Queen surround my along with their various factions.

5. What are the given cicumstances: (Overall): It is the time of the War of the Roses. It is a time of great tumult in England. My brother, King Edward IV has recently defeated Richmond to sieze the throne. I have lived all my life in his shadow. While most people are happy with the relative peace that has been achieved, I am not; I used to be a great warrior and could use my skills in battle, but I feel as though I have no place in these happier times. I am in short, a malcontent. (For the first scene): Edward has been crowned fairly recently. He has also been falling ill and his condition continues to decline. Queen Elizabeths faction and the Yorks faction are fighting little petty battles daily in court.

6. What is my relationship?: (To King Edward): He is my eldest brother. I am glad that he is fallen ill, for in his illness, I see a way to the throne. I find him gulible and naive. (To George, Duke of Clarence): He is my second eldest brother and I find him jsut a stupid and gulible as the King. He is another obstacle to the throne. I do respect his prowess in battle. They are both my brothers though; they are my kin and I have fought with them, and even though it doesn't seem to inhibit me that much, it is something to think on.(To Buckingham): He is my "kingmaker". In him I have someone with similarly little scruples, perhaps a fellow malcontent. He is an advisor adn a very helpful tool in my bid for power.(To Queen Elizabeth): I find her uppity and annoying. I think she is pompous and condescending. She is far to happy with things the way they are, witht eh peace that has jsut happened. She is far too content in general. I want to knock the self-satisfied smirk from her face.(To Margaret): She is of course mad, but I must admit that she does see things quite clearly even for that. But she is an annoyance, an ancient relic that has been left to gather dust too long and is now causing trouble. She is as vulnerable as any old woman. (To the Duchess of York): She si my mother. Being youngest in a Royal fmaily means I have never been a favorite. She does not mean that much to me. I was perhaps hurt by her rejection as a child, but I have since digested that hurt and turned it into teh angst I now feel towards the world.(To Lady Anne): She is a pretty young thing that will serve me well in my plans. She is smart, but in a vulnerable position. (To to Young Princes): They are my nephews.they are one more obstacle in my way to the throne. they are young and whole unlike I was when I was young.

7. What do I want?: (Overall): The throne. Power. Attention. To fight again? To be alone?(In the first scene): I want the audiences attention. I want them to be on my side. I want to see how cool I am. I want to impress.

8. What is in my way?: Various people, The King , Clarence, the Princes. Later, the fact that people turn against me. My own bloody nature.

9. What do I do to get what I want?:(Overall) Kill or get people to kill for me. Frighten, insight, insult, scheme, dupe, and claw my way to the top.(In the first scene): Explain the situation the way I see it. Laying out my evil plans.

See you darlings tommorow!
Kat
