21 Days To Make A Habit

Hello Everyone!

I did not post yesterday. I had a swim meet, and then we went to Goodberry's to celebrate, and then I had to go watch Harry Potter. And then it was three am. Oops. I'm sorry about that! So today, I have a story for you! As per usual! I have a good friend who told me it takes 21 days to make a habit- I've adopted this theory in bike rides, and am at about day five. But either way, she also holds the policy that you ought to give yourself a break every now and then. I suppose yesterday was my break. In any case I'm posting an EXTRA long blog post because I missed yesterday and have to cover all that information.

Yesterday was great fun- I learned SO SO SO much at the character work. I'd been having a lot of trouble because Margaret's lower body was just kind of dragging after her lurking upper body- poor girl, and I didn't like that. It was a great help to work on your character and try and identify exactly HOW things feel physically. I feel so much better. The stage combat was not new to me- I did a play with Leo/Lindsey/Claire that involved a great deal of rapier stage combat... but it was a new KIND of stage combat and that was great. I feel so much better knowing my arm can be used as a weapon.

Today, I brought my drum in and I got to share one of my favorite books with someone so that made me happy. The drum is just about my favorite thing since sliced bread- my dad has this obsession with classical music and folk. Our whole house is basically an array of musical instruments, stolen library books, and prints of paintings my parents like. The drum is also my little brother's drum- he's eleven, and he doesn't know my mother let me take it. Let's hope he doesn't find out.

I learned a lot this morning about Uta Hagen- I won't lie, I already know some about her because we worked on her stuff in my drama teacher's class, but I never quite GOT it. I mean, you hear the questions and you answer them, but when you're in a class with twenty people- if you aren't sure of it, that's a hard emotion to identify, much less try and rectify. So this morning was great because I think something really might have clicked. =D Well, things are always clicking in my brain, but it doesn't mean I understood it. We'll have to see when it goes into practice.

This afternoon was not fun. Mentally I was exhausted because I'd gotten four hours of sleep. Physically, I was totally awake because I haven't been getting my 3-4 hours outdoors the past couple days. I apologize to Matt and Chloe for sitting next to them and being half hyper and annoying, half sleepy. I almost fell asleep today at my piano lesson which was mortifying- I felt awful. But I did manage to ask my teacher to come see the show.

Toodles!
Julia

P.S. Chloe is knitting me a pink and brown scarf!

P.S.S. Here's an idea- how about we go see Harry Potter as a group on Saturday afternoon? I was thinking sometime after lunch/before dinner would be fun- just a suggestion!
