Hello !
My name is Jenni :) ...I really hope I'm not doing this wrong...
Today was our first day and altogether my first day doing the Burning Coal SC. I have to admit, I wasn't nervous until I got within a mile of the theatre and then all of a sudden my stomach just kind of twisted. I mean, it's normal right? It's hard not to be nervous when you aren't sure what to expect. It's kind of like before you get on a roller coaster. :) On the way, I actually saw like forty geese cross Capital Blvd. and STOP TRAFFIC!! it was hilarious!
Today we did a few excercises. The one where we closed our eyes and had to feel around for the person in front of us was a little weird. I was lucky my person was so close because I'm sure it would've been a little awkward roaming around the room, groping people. The sculptee game was fun, but a little difficult. You really had to pay attention when playing that game! I have a difficult time with the mirror game. hah. I swear I'm terrible at it. It's hard to copy someone else. I really need to work on it! It's harder to be the one making the movements though, because you actually have to think.
I thought it was really interesting when we were learning about what captures an audience's attention. I never really thought about how you can move an object and then all of a sudden, the main subject changes. Don't get me wrong, I realize how important the body is while acting.
I want to touch on something else. This school year I have to complete a personal project. For my personal project, I'm planning on making a short video on basically "the life of an actor". I might video some of you guys doing your stuff. haha. I figured I should warn you guys so you don't think I'm some creepy weirdo with a video camera.
Oh, and I think I lied this morning. Annie isn't my only favorite musical. It was the only one I could think of off the top of my head, because I've seen it so much. Anyways, I love West Side Story, Rent, Spring Awakening, etc...
Wellllll, today was a good day :) I think I'm going to have fun these next three weeks.
Love, Jenni.
