I firmly agree with Uta Hagen, that these are the nine questions that everyone should ask themselves about their character. These questions will help you have a deeper, and more stable understanding to your character to make it easy to bring him or her to life onstage.
1. Who am I?
I am an extrordinarily cunning, clever, yet treacherous Lord of Gloucester. I am deceptive to the innocent hearted, and have an immense lust for power that can overcome all feelings of love and guilt twards others and my actions. Though I am deformed of mind and body, I have the power to seduce and overide everyone around me with my words and my charm.
2. Where am I?
I am in a state of discontent in the land of England.
3.What time is it?
I am in the 21st century. A time of war, hate, and rulers unfit for the throne. It is now time for ME to become king of England.
4. What surrounds me?
Idiots and iron-witted fools, who will succumb to my every will if i pull the correct strings. My physical surroundings are jumbled and broken to represent my kingdom, my mind, and the minds I cunningly distort.
5.What are the given circumstances
The battle of Tewksbury has recently occured. I have cleverly slaughterd King Henry the sixth and Prince Edward. I now intend to seduce and marry the woman that was their wife and daughter. I am also scheming to have both of my brothers murdered, to bring several steps closer to the throne.
6.What is my Relationship
I despise Queen Elizabeth and her faction. Clarance, and Edward are my simpleton brothers whom I have no issue in killing to get closer to becoming king. As for my tools, such as Hastings, Catesby, Derby, and Buckingham, they are on my side so I am fond of them, unless they get in the way of my becoming king, or try to disobey me in any manner.
7.What Do I want?
I want to be the ruler of England. I want everyone to love me and do everthing I say. I want to have power over the lives of others. I want to control life or death. I want to spend my days living a life of luxury, adoration, and power.
8.Whats in my way?
The seemingly endless long line of people I have to have kill in order to reserve the throne for myself and to make sure no one objects.
9.How am I going to get it?
I am going to plan maliciously and carefully. I am going to need to kill most of the men in my family and anyone else who gets in my way. I am going to need to lie, deceive, and seduce everyone to acheive my goal.
